Make certain the clutch is bottomed all the way. I was frustrated one day that I couldn't get it out of 4-HI after screwing around on some gravel roads. Finally I mashed the clutch to the floor out of anger and it disengaged fine, then it dawned on me....DUH.

Same thing happened to me. Had to pull the floor mat out from under the clutch so the pedal could reach the floor.

My four wheel drive would not engage on my 2007 Tacoma. Light just blinked and nothing happened. Didn't want to get raped at the dealership and didn't want to throw $300+ at it replacing the actuator. I followed the directions on this thread
    [ http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...differential-actuator-repair-replacement.html ]
from the FJ forum and soldered the connectors inside the actuator. Put her back together and she works great. Cost me .50 worth of Solder, a couple bucks worth of gasket maker and a quart and a half of syn for the dif.

So what did they say the problem was?, we just had that problem last night after 12 inches of snow. We didnt switch on dry pavement, there is no dry pavement. It's currently sitting at the toyato dealer as the Mechanic said, user error, so we got him to try and shift, and the bugger still won't disengage.
