I am going to be going with a new tire and wheel combo soon. I want to bump up to a 285/75/16 Mud Terrain tire and am going to be getting the Mickey Thompson Classic Lock wheels. I've looked around a lot on the forum about rubbing issues and I see some people have issues and some don't. Just curious if anyone is running a combo like this and if you have had any major rubbing issues. Those wheels have a -12 Offset and 4 inch backspace. Any info or links to threads I may have missed would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Garrett

As long as you cut enough stuff away and get the right alignment, you shouldn't have rubbing issues. ;-)

I was hoping to not have to cut stuff away, but if that is what needs to be done I'm going to do it! After putting my 3 inch lift on the 265/75's are just looking a little too small so I need to go bigger! :D

You're also likely to have fewer issues if you settle on a 0 offset wheel instead of -12.

I guess I'm a little confused on that then. I was under the impression that with the negative offset it would help because the tires would be out farther.

If there's more positive offset, the center of the rim is closer to the center of the vehicle. Too much and you rub on the upper control arm.

If there's more negative offset, the center of the rim is further away from the center of the vehicle. Too much negative offset and you rub on the front or rear of the wheelwell when the wheel is turned hard left or right.

    Ok that makes sense. Thanks!
