    Hey All,

Tacomas are very good vehicles in the reliability, maintainability, serviceability, etc. department. No major or common issues.

What do you know about the Rav 4? Reliability, etc? Any major or known problems?

Do they have the same long-life reputation like the Tacoma? Goods, Bads?

This would be used as a on-road SUV, grocery getter type vehicle. No off-roading.

    Any input appreciated.

I have 2 in the family.
    2wd and 4wd.

    No problems per say.
Do the maintenance and drive the snot out of them.
Most of the work we do at the shop is just maintenance.
So i don't expect a new one to be any different down the road.

My first Toyota was a 66 Toyota Corona. It was bullet proof. I beat the shit out of it and it never left me walking. With the exception of a few lapses in reasoning I have owned Toyota vehicles since, eight not counting the 1966, All have been exceptional vehicles and extremely reliable. The few issues that have occurred were all taken care of promptly by the dealer at no charge to me.

    Corona
    Truck 4X4
    Landcruiser
    Toyota Space Van
    Camry Wagon
    Sienna Van
    Matrix
    Highlander
    Tacoma Prerunner

I will not buy anything but a Toyota.

My mom has a 2008 Rav4. No issues. The v6 is a beast engine in that little thing. The 4wd system is stupid though. It only works under 20mph.

I've had 2 of them. A 2006 Sport AWD, and a 2010 2WD Limited. Both were great. We just went bigger with the Sienna with the kids getting older.
