When you bought it was the light on of off? Sounds like you are not sure if you have the sensors or not? The sensors do work on some aftermarket wheels, but did they install the factory sensors in the new wheels is you problem.

I went from steel wheels to alloy wheels and the sensors work just fine :D you just have to take it to a better tire shop.

    X2
I think the Toyota TPMS set-up is pretty pricey from the dealer and I believe that is the only way to get it? Someone care to verify this ;)

Does the unplugging wire harness mod only work with 06's?
I read in depth way back when about the glove mod wire splice mod.
P Bauer, did you only unplug the wire harness behind the HVAC & not do the glove box splice? Excellent info.
Mine doesn't come on for my sensors are still in my steel wheels w/ snows stored in the garage. I put factory TRD OR alloys on for summer with no sensors. My spare still has the sensor. Crazy way to keep air in the tires for sure :p

As far as OP, yeah why would Toyota sell you a truck with the light on?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Mine is blinking on the tundy which means I need to go to the dealer to get it fixed. I am leaning towards unpluging the LED. I look at my tires daily and check them weekly. So why have it, just another light in the console to bother me.

It does in my case and obviously his case. I don't have the sensors on anymore. Oem sensors don't always work on aftermarket rims. So you're stuck with paying an arm and a leg for new ones...or have the light on all the time. I'll let you guess wich one i chose.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...

yeah...so that means its b/c of the rims, not the 33" tires...like i stated, i have 33's and i've got TPMS sensors. statements like that will make people believe that no single 33" tire can use TPMS whe its actually the wheels that are the issues

I read somewhere that you can turn the steel wheel TPMS sensor 180 degrees and it will work on alloy's fine. Can anyone verify this for us?

The way i figured it is that when they're saynig "i put on 33s and my light fucked up" they imply the aftermarket wheels on 33s....i didn't think that anybody would actually belive that the sensor would somehow be on the tire itself...eh, what the hell do i know

well you can run 33's on stock rims w/ spacers and still have the TPMS and everything as normal...so the 33's arent the issue

....you don't get it but it's ok, i think the guy who had the question is fine by now, no reason for you to try and convince me about the tire being the issue or not, i know it's not.

I went from the stock steel rims to alloy rims and the sensors work fine. The tire shop installed them, so I'm not sure how they did it, but it has been said in other threads that they work by being rotated.

Well....I checked and I do have the metal valves and I just had my tires rotated/balanced and asked the tire guys what they thought...and well...it is going to cost a lot of money to 'calibrate' the sensors for aftermarket rims when the stock rims were much smaller..like 16's I guess? And I'm on 18's with offroading tires. They said it would be fine; to ignore it. I'm not too handy with electrical stuff so I dare not touch the HVAC module. I just put my cd player in and that was a task in itself. I might have my brother take the bulb out if he promises not to have any screws left over when putting everything back together:) Thanks for yall's help!

I had the same issue with mine and I will be removing the led bulb all together. It's just not worth the agrivation dealing with the pricks at the dealer. They seem to kiss your ass when they sell you the vehicle and as soon as you don't buy there OEM parts from them they give you shit over it...Just my .02 ...Good luck.
