Just purchased afe pro dry filter for 2012 tacoma with 4.0. I undid the 2 clips to remove housing and attempted to gently remove but it seems stuck. I looked and felt but didn't find clips anywhere else but don't want to force/break it. Are there additional clips or a specific way to do this ? I tried internet and forum search but found no answers. thanks for any help, it sucks to have to ask stupid questions but I've always appreciated/received help on this forum. mcdee

Unless there is something a little different for the 2012's then it might just be a little tight. You also have the hose pushing back against you as well to make it feel even tighter. You should just have to undo the 2 clips then tip it towards the firewall to make a gap where the clips are then pull it towards you and viola!

The two clips usually catch when you try to pull it out so make sure they aren't. Other than that, just yank it out.

Thanks for the help, just needed to pull harder but I wanted to make sure. Not being mechanical I've learned not to force things until I know it's ok. After I installed new filter I had to really force the housing end in that was opposite the clips, it almost felt like it should snap/click in but doesn't.
