Well I got some new tires. Went from 265/70r17 BFG ATs to 255/75r17 Nitto trail grapplers. I have 5100 all around with the fronts set at 2.5 and the 265/70's rubbed on the upper and lower control arms. Well the 255/75's also rub...:( So I guess i need some spacers or rims and no money for rims at this time.
About twice a year or so I "use" my truck. Haul 1000+ pounds. Will the spidertrax spacers be a bad idea?

With my inexperience with spacers, i'd think they'd be a bad idea with heavy loads...but i'd like to know the answer as well

With the new tires 255/75's they only rub when I turn the wheel all the way to the right. figure that one out...

I think I made up my mind with a little "googling." Spacers are a bad idea. I guess I will just stick with my pizza cutters and not turn the wheel full lock.

I have spidertrax on my 09 tacoma and have hauled a 5000 lb trailer 12000 km last year and no problem at all.

There are 3/4" spacers that are made which are hub centric, so there is a lip that wheel centers on.

This hubcentric style is the same as a factory wheel to rotor contact. Load force is placed on the lugs and on the lip that protrudes about 1/4 to 3/8"

I have towed about 4K pounds with mine on no issues.

    They are made by http://www.motorsport-tech.com/

With concern to heavy loads you are more limited to safety by the lift and taller tires due to sway than spacers.

I've had spacers on my truck for about 5 years and 170,000 Kms. It's been wheeled, beaten on, and I've overloaded the truck more times than I should have. To be honest I never even thought about spacers being an issue and I never have had an issue. I think you will be fine.

While spacers will place a bit different load on the wheel bearings, it is not that big of a deal IF YOU HAVE GOOD SPACERS. You can minimize any potential problems by using only as much offset as needed, so do look for something like the 3/4" spacers and for sure the hubcentric feature which ensures the wheel is centered, and the spacer is centered on the original hub.

By the way those tires do look sweet on your truck. I would love to do the same.
