I see they gave the Tacoma a " not recommended". Surprised me.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Someone posted a thread like this not long ago. Someone in there commented that CR reviews cars for people living in the suburbs and use their vehicles strictly in the concrete jungle. They have no idea a truck's intended purpose at all. If you are concerned about a choppy ride, poor mileage, don't buy a truck.

Everything Consumer Reports said about the Tacoma is true. Of course it's gonna' score lower than an Infinity G37 in braking, accident avoidance, fuel economy & ride comfort. IT'S A TRUCK!

At least for the compact trucks, there is a pretty clear inverse relationship of Consumer Reports rankings and sales success.

The thing I really don't get is how they rate the Nissan's long term reliability as "higher than average" and the tacoma gets just an "average". The 05 Nissan got low marks in every single catagory:confused:

You should go drive a Ram 1500 or F150. They're plenty smooth.

I don't think anybody is whining, but really, how can you say the tacoma is in a "don't buy" catagory? The only thing they have bad to say about it is the seat and ride and both of those are basically opinions.

Guessing you are looking at a 2012 or 2013. Just got done looking at 2010 and 2011. Good safety rating and good reliability marks.

I go w/ edmonds myself. Each place will have a little different opinion. I think no matter what toyota you get, you are in good shape.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
I am a bit shocked, only because it has always been a "Recommended" in the Compact Truck market. Even though the comfort and ride are holding down. I actually have always got compliments of how smooth my ride is.

Oh well, I will only buy the Tacoma in this class of truck.
