OK folks .. will need your advice on this. Here the skinny of the story.
Since got this taco that comes with factory towing package. So two weeks ago I had the truck in to adjust the throwout on the clutch since they replaced two month ago. Told them they need to get that plug unwrapped in the god awlful spot. they put the pigtail in for me.. So I can get the rest up and running. Last night I getting the resse controller installed.. no sweat.. but appeared not working right.
Today, I pulled to the RV dealership and asked him to run the test to see that is really working. Found that there is no 12 volt going to the controller. checked the fuses.. they are fine. They performed a check by putting a jumper wire dircet to battary, it works ( on the red/ black tracer) it coming from the plug on the factory side. So RV guy tells me that toytoa have to find that wire to be fix. or go the other way by putting a wire to battery with concactor and to firewall into the controller to get the jucie flowing.
So the buttom line... which is the best route? get the toytoa to fix it or do the alternate way.
will be going to the toytoa dealer tomarrow afternoon.. unless majorty of you tells me go the other way.

Are you SURE it didn't have a dealer-installed pre-delivery towing "package"? Does your truck have the auxiliary oil cooler, larger alternator, and larger battery?

My understanding is that without the actual factory tow package, some of the wiring/connector is there, but some wiring is missing, and if I remember correctly what's missing is the power connection.

Pig tail for the brake controller or for the lights? Got a 7 pin connector in the back with it's own little bracket? If it's a 4 pin connector at the back the brakes won't work and it's not a factory setup.

Sounds like OP does not have tow package.
    How to spot tow package.
    1. Class IV tow hitch
    2. 7 Pin round connector on tow hitch
    3. Brakecontroller connector under the dash.
    4. Cooler under the oil filter.

If you dont have all above, you dont have factory tow package.
Forgot. 7 pin to 4 pin conversion plug should be in glove box.

    folks
I DO have towing package.. with heavy duty oil cooler, battary etc. It said right on the window sticker comes with my truck. Got the hitch and 7 pin on it. The RV tech check it all out before I even try to pull a trailer. found it got NO jucie from the truck side ( he did check the fuses and its working fine) soo it the wire on the truck side either there is a break or no connection. Please read the frist post I made.. the RV tech did a jumper to bat to controller,, it works.. soooo I am taking OZ's word.. take to toytoa dealer to get that fix.. I am planing to tow next weekend...

My guess would be that the dealer did not make a connection when it came in new. Like Oz said take it in let them fix it, it's their responsibility.
