A hunk of ice cracked my tail light 2008 off road manufacture date 04/2008. I called a dealership, giving them my vin # and receiving the part number. I order a light online. When installing, I could not connect the electric connector. The pins on the connector aligned but it would not lockup. Visually the connectors appear to be identical. I've turned wrenches most of of life and feel comfortable repairing almost any thing. I did everything, but fling a dead chicken at it with no success. I measured the outside of the OEM and replacement and they appear to be the same. OK, I sent that one back. I called another dealership and gave them the vin and received the same part #. I ordered the 2nd light from Rock Auto. I paid the extra for the CAPA Certified Part. You guessed it, same problem. I stripped the OEM harness out and applied to the Rock Auto Part. Anyone know what in the Hell the problem is?

I'm talking about the the primary electrical connector on the actual tail light harness (female) that connects to its male counterpart on the truck's wiring harness.

check the inside of the plug to make sure one of the electrical post connectors is not bent/ lining up correctly causing the plug to not fit right.

Did you check any salvage yards for a Wrecked Tacoma?
