Hi everyone. I have a 2008 regular cab 4 cylinder 4wd with a 5 speed & 81k on the clock. I am getting fault code P0031 which I believe is a low voltage condition in the O2 sensor bank 1, sensor 1. My understanding is that this is referring to the upstream (pre cat) O2 sensor. Can anyone confirm this? Ever changed this sensor? I have found a lot of pics of the first gen sensor location, how much different is the second gen?

Yes. The front O2 sensor. Its the Air/Fuel ratio sensor. Expect to pay out da' butt for a new one.

The 02 on the 4 poppers is visable with the hood open. Look down at the exhasut manifold, and follow the exhasut down. O2 should be visable.

I've changed mine, I have a pic on my computer, I'll post it up.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of... Looks like it is going to run me about $125 for the damn thing. Thanks for the quick response/ photo!

    No prob bob.

    $125? What brand? Denso?

Those things are pretty easy to test. Simple resistance (ohms) test will show if they are bad or not. You'll have to search around for what terminals to test and what the ranges are.
