It is recomended for alignment purposes. When you lift the front you will lose caster. Aftermarket UCAs add caster, most add 2 degrees, light racing UCAs are adjustable for caster and camber. With stock UCAs your aligment tech will be able to get toe and camber is spec, but the caster will be low. Your truck may feel like it wanders at highway speeds with low caster. Some people claim aftermarket UCAs are not needed, but most will tell you that it is recomended to get them. Aftermarket UCAs also allow for better articulation.

dude it DEF goes all over the place at highway speed but it's the worst when a gust of wind comes in. I've adjusted to it but I thought it was just how tacomas drove after a lift. that's great to know I can fix that. thanks man!

Higher caster will help. Do you know your alignment numbers by any chance? Somewhere between 2.5-3 degrees should be good

SPC light racing is a very good option. They are adjustable so you are pretty much guaranteed a good alignment if your alignment tech understands how they work (they come with instructions for alignment) you can get them for $375 from headstrong offroad, thats the best price i have seen. These UCAs use a balljoint, like the stock UCA, there is a boot that covers the joint so they are low maintenance. Other options are more expensive but offer better articulation and travel, like camburg, total choas, icon, all these use a uni-ball joint which is exposed and requires more maintence because dirt can get in there so you need to make sure they stay clean if you want them to last. Most people go with ubi-ball UCAs when they are paired with extended travel coilovers. This being said i think light racing is your best option with the 5100s and 885s

Deck plate mod, all chrome plasti dipped, 32" BFGs, fogs, 3" bilstein coilover 5100s/5150s in the rear, manaflow exhaust, smoked tail lights, rooftop lightbar, upgraded alpine sound.
So I just got Light racing UCAs in the mail today. I was looking at the instructions and there are plates you adjust when you install them that will adjust your camber to whatever spec you need. Do you know if the alignment place will do that, or should I check my specs first and do it myself?

If your lifting 2.5-3" set them at the neutral setting (spc logo facing tire) that adds 2* of caster and should get you close to where you want to be. It all depends on the tech who is doing the alignment but most guys wont want to bother with adjusting the plates, when i did my alignment they didnt even touch them. Caster can be adjusted also with the top bolt, i set it at about 3/4 of the way out (away from the truck) before bringing it in to get aligned
