Searched the forums couldn't find anything.

I'm <3000 miles since last oil change and Maint light reset.

    2012 DCSB all stock.

Stopped at a light this morning in traffic. Light changed. Eased accelerator. MAINT REQ starts flashing and engine stutters 3 - 4 seconds as it starts to move. Light stops flashing and engine resumes as normal.

    No codes........

Drove home ~ 40 miles. No problems.

    Any ideas?

MIL will flash on a misfire, which could be what happened

Maint Req ? only flashes when you are just starting out and before
    it goes solid.

Get the OBDII codes. if the MIL lit up recently there will be old pending codes
that will not cycle out right away until a driving pattern proves to the
computer there are no further issues, or something like that.

I plugged in an Actron Pocket Scanner on the way home.

I don't know where the "MIL" light is. Not shown in my manual.

I'll fire up Techstream minivci after dinner an see what that says.

really ? techstream and don't know what a MIL is ?

In all documentation and help Toyota has published since before 1995,
MIL stands for Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Toyota does not use
    the term 'Check Engine Light'.

here is an excerpt from a 2013 Tacoma manual:

When the fuel tank cap is loose
The malfunction indicator lamp comes on as a temporary mal-function and your vehicle may not pass the I/M test.
    ■ When the malfunction indicator lamp goes off after several
    driving trips
The error code in the OBD system will not be cleared unless the
vehicle is driven 40 or more times.

MIL and CEL have been used interchangeably across the industry.

I have never seen MIL either when referring to a CEL. I also have techstream.

On the light they do. It shows an engine and says check. Does not show an engine and say MIL or MAL. Just check.

    Techstream says no codes.

Is MAIN REQ used for anything other than the 5000 mile reminder?

No sir. I wonder if when the engine studdered it was enough to kick off the start up self check. I have done this before when my truck almost died from not pushing in the clutch in time. I caught it, but it still made a few of the lights blink on through their self check.
