    So you attempted to take the whole strut out and it would not come loose? What method/process did you follow?

    The OP mentioned it was a block of wood, not a brick. But yeah, the wood should be under the jackstand to avoid damaging the pavement. I didn't use it when I installed my lift, and the jackstands dug grooves into my driveway. See lower left corner of photo:
