Entune + iPod oddities

My 2013 Tacoma's Entune system acts a little strangely with my iPod. It's an older iPod, but it worked fine in my previous truck (with an aftermarket head unit). Anyways, it plays fine, but then will sporadically go silent for a few seconds. It happens randomly so far as I can tell, and it does so maybe every 3 or 4 minutes. Everything else on the Entune unit works as expected.

Any ideas? Anyone else have similar trouble?
