When you guys paint them, do you remove the old paint first or just paint over it ?

Thayers truck looks better in person. The Rustoleum bedliner is like 60 grit sandpaper and a bitch to clean. Also chips like crazy. I do not use it anylonger and have stripped everything I had done with it and painted instead. A top coat of paint will help the cleaning issue, but unless the formula changed its gonna chip like a sob.

I had my rockers and wheel wells line x'd on my ranger i loved it super durable and never chipped easy to clean. Its fairly expensive but comes with warranty. I wasnt sure how high to go on the rockers of my tacoma but after seeing this picture im going to match the same height and i think ill do the fender flares in line x as well.

Not true at all. My rockers have barely chipped, and it has been over a year since I've done it, without touch-ups. My sliders on the other hand could use a good touch up, but that is to be expected.

 Do it! I'm glad I did mine. I went 6 inches, and wouldn't go any higher. Just make sure you get a nice straight line. Take your time and be sure to mask the truck off thoroughly.

:deadhorse: I call BS on this one too sorry. 99% of your rattlecan effectiveness is in the prep work. I use Rustoleum bedliner in a can WAY more than I should and it holds up great as long as you prep right. Good sanding and a CORRECTLY APPLIED coat of primer (self-etching works best) and you're good to go.

heres my 08 DCLB. had my buddy (automotive painter at my shop) spray my rear bumper, flares and lower section of my boxsides, fenders, and
    cab/doors.

had it painted back in august of 2012 i think. everything has held up with no chipping or peeling. ive power washed the truck after a few particularly muddy days out and had no problems. i used raptor liner. i think it looks way better than stock.

Looks great!, Just like mine. Not too much, not too little. I wanted to keep my flares white tho. What paint did you use to cover?
You had your rear bumper painted? Was it already color-matched white?

My truck is a Trd sport so was all color matched. I just applied the raptor liner which came black over the flares and took apart my rear bumper and sprayed it. What do you mean by what paint I used to cover?

I was going to try the same thing but use Plasti Dip. I was also going to bring it up a bit more. I was going to go to the top of where the door dips in and back up just below the "Tacoma" emblem. I have to wait for a warmer day, apparently they're calling for snow tomorrow.
