ok I'm having lots of trouble trying to decide which to do. I want to buy a whole set of leaf springs for front and rear. I've read about people using trail gears, I like them because of the price and I could buy them in Fresno without having to pay 100 for shipping. I want to go junkyard leafs because cheapness and you could add more leaf to your hybrid pack. for stock I don't have to do much but buy a front set of Leafs and be done with. this is for my sas that's still on its way. please help, I want to know what everyone thinks is best for performance and quality, I don't really mind stiffness as long as it's study enough.

yep, 2nd gen Tacoma. I'm just gonna slap on a Dana 44 from a 78 f150. all I need still is Leafs, shocks, and little things like joints and what not.

that is freakin awesome! if you have the know-how with spring lengths and thicknesses and shackle lengths to set a junk pack up, DO IT! I haven't seen any of those trucks done yet, but I know the old 63" chevy springs worked well on the old pickups

otherwise, I would just get custom packs. i always heard good things about trail-gear for the old pickups. but don't know what they would have available to support a 2nd gen over a d44

Why not a 44 from a rubri then you'll have a matching bolt pattern?

I run trail gears on a 1st gen swapped taco. I like them, the rears are a little stiff for my needs but not bad.

yeah I can't wait to weld everything on this summer. I don't know to much but I'm using a site for reference, it's **************.com. they give me lengths of springs from each side and arch. yeah that's what I'm worried about because our 2nd gens are much heavier. haha yeah I have been collecting parts for almost 3 years now.

wait is the Rubicon 5x5.5 or 5x4.5? I'm a little out of luck, I already have the Dana 44.

hmm how much lighter is the 1st gen from the 2nd gen?

converting a 78 f150 dana 44 is a big job. changing a coil spring to a leaf and shortening the axles to fit under a Tacoma is going to be tricky. an old box bronco frontend might just fit, take some measurement and look for a 76 or 78 year for the disc brakes. good luck, you are going to need it.

lol yeah I see a lot in my town they got giant rims, skinny tires, and everything that just seems expensive but they stay clean year after year.

well my plan for that is to just put on perches and cut to fit them in, plus I want the wider stance and it is prefect at 66" wide. my rear is 66" also. thank you I'm gonna need all the advice I can get.

no not until I save up some more for that. I already have a transfer case from a 1st gen Tacoma( thanks to wyatt's advice) and a transfer case from a 89 22r pickup. just need to buy adapter and triple stick then drive shaft work.
