    Gents,

Before anyone starts going 'search nazi' on me, I've already searched.

I just ordered a URD O2 rear sensor simulator for my truck. She's an '01 Taco Pre-Run V6 auto which is giving me the good 'ol 0420 CEL. My problem is.....I need help in stalling the system/unit. It came with instructions but I'm not good with the electrical part, I'm FANTASTIC with the mechanical but not too good with the electrical side. There are three wires: green, purple, and black. I know it goes inside the dash-cover on the passenger side but where to even start???

Could someone please "barney style" show/explain so I can install the unit or point me to somewhere where there's a write-up? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

1st off. You need to remember that the sensor that came with that truck was a Denzo brand. Nothing will preform or last as long as what was origional. 2nd. the fact that you have wires and not a plug concerns me further. Depending on how many O2 sensors you have may have something to do with it. I have a 2001 tacoma 4X4 with 2 O2 sensors and 2 cataylic converters. If this looks like yours. then you need to return that cheap sensor and bite down and go to the dealer so you can get the right one. remember if its a sensor it needs to say DENZO! then it will be a direct replacement with no guess work. Ive been throu this already. Its cheaper to do it this way.:)

Okay. Maybe you are talking about a dummy O2 sensor that fools the ECU into thinking its running correctly so you can run WO cat converters?

Okay. pull the passenger seat out. Pull the RH door door sill out. Pull the carpet back and you can see the O2 connecter. The colors are the same on the sensor. You should be able to snip the wires downstream of the existing plug. Get some butt splices at raido shack with the heat shrink already on them and splice them wire for wire. I have got to get one of those. I just got bad news that both of my Cataylitic converters are bad. Thats a $2400 replacement from the dealer. I changed both of my O2 sensors. so Im ready to try that Simulator. Is it on the URD web site?

yep, got it from URD website. although if you look around on these sites (ttora, tacomaworld, custom tacos....etc), some guy may let you have 'em for cheaper. i was looking around but couldn't wait since my CEL is annoying the sh*(&^%$t out of me.

thanks for the input. i was hoping to do a write-up (with pics) for anyone in the future. when i actually get time to do it (and it stops raining here), i'll post the write-up.

    cheers.
