Tryed some 285's on the ole' 4 banger today!

Im planning on lifting my tacoma with some 5100's at 2.5 and a 1.5 aal soon anyways my buddy with an fj has some 285 70 17 kelly safari tsr's, i test fit them on the rear of my truck so i could drive and see how sluggish they made my truck. Man was that a surprise! I could barley even tell, i figured they would be terrible i didnt know if i wasnted 265's or 285's but they seemed fine! Still had plenty of power i thought, if not it drove better because first gear wasnt quite as low and i could use it a tiny bit, also didnt have a problem luggin it around in 5th gear at around 40 mph. So i have made up my mind! Im getting 285's when i lift it, has anyone else put 285's on there 4 banger and have any input to this?

 

I wish I had went with a 285's. I thought the same as you that it wouldn't have enough power.

 

I've put 235/85/16 on my 6cyl and you can tell... Role around the block maybe not much. But hills and 4x4 you can definitely tell...not bad but noticeable. I don't see how 285 on the 4cyl wouldn't be noticeable. Check out some hills if you can before you commit...

 

Yea i drove around awhile with them i went up into some sand pits and stuff to try it out in the dirt and hills, i live up in the hills thats all we have here, its noticeable for sure but i just figured it would be way worse the way everyone hypes up stuff on here!
