Hey all, I'm looking to get an 05 Taco with a supercharger from a private seller. I took it to the local Yota shop and the mechanic told me that the supercharger is going bad and that there's something "loose".

What could be going wrong with this SC?

I would be the third owner, first owner installed the SC, not sure how many miles are on the SC. The taco sits at 125k now.

    Thanks.

    Is that an easy fix?

Should I pass on this taco because of the SC?

    Thanks.

If it were me, unless its just a super great deal I would pass. You have no idea how the previous owner(s) have driven it, and being supercharged, if it has been driven hard I would expect a good amount of wear on the rear end and transmission. Also buying a used vehicle with a known problem isn't a good idea, it usually just means you're getting somebody else's headache. But like I said, if its a good deal and you think the rest of the truck is in good shape then get a quote to fix the supercharger and have a trusted mechanic look over the rest of the truck. Good luck, keep us posted.

I had a 96, supercharged and the nose bearing are really easy to change. More than likely this is the issue. I would worry more about cylinder compression. This thread details how to change the bearings. Edit: The TRD lines of super chargers, are all similar.
