Hey all I joined this forum a little while ago, new to Tacomas but not to Toyotas. I have been on FJcruiserforums for a long time and you will see me on FJNE. So yes I have a 2007 TRD FJ right now with 135000 miles on the clock. I'm researching and reading about Tacos, looking to be my next purchase. Most likely a TRD Sport with a long bed. I have had pick ups in the past went to the FJ and now looking to go back to a pick up. I have been sitting on the fence for a month or two now and honestly not sure when or if I will pull the trigger yet. With that said I have/ had no real issues with my FJ and it is paid off. From what I have read it seems like I will get the same result with a Taco. I have done a little modding to my current ride, mostly cosmetic ie black out on silver trim and what not. I did a cold air package and some little mods here and there nothing big. I really don't have the time to go wheeling since my work hours are really messed up. No time off and work nights. I live in New Jersey, south by Philly. I have picked up alot by reading a lot of posts on here already. there are some really nice rides on here.
I have been looking at the 2013 models like I mentioned the TRD Sport Long bed Double Cab. That seems to give me best of both worlds, some interior room and a bed to haul my crap in. I would love an Access Cab but with a wife and son it just wouldn't work since we at times use my vehicle. Sorry for the long ass post, hopefully I can post pics soon of a new ride!!

    Welcome from TN:wave:

my best buddy has a ’11 fj trail team in army green. has a 3” lift and 295/75R16’s

also i agree the AC is small. even more so when you have a wife and kid.(i’m single, right now) also you can fit A LOT of stuff in the short bed(5’ bed) i have the DCSB and fit all kinds of stuff. more room than what the fj has. i’m looking at buy a welder, and building a good looking and strong roof rack to increase what i can haul/carry when i need more room. i will also have a LED light bar on it, and detachable cross bars like the fj so i can take snowboard rack off in the summer.

also it’s not much longer i think like 1.5’ over all or something i know it’s no more than 2 feet. i think the DCLB over all is a foot longer(and i think, could be wrong. but i thing it’s a 1’ and a few inches longer) than the SB. sill not much longer. also i think the dcsb and the fj both ride very good and are about the same. both as a passenger and driver. legs are a little more stretched out in the taco than in the FJ.

Hey guys thanks for the replies. Yeah the mpg really blows on the FJ, another reason I have been looking at the Taco. My problem is that I love the FJ just I feel I'm out growing it. The back seat is real bad for any distance driving. I sat in a 2013 yesterday and I did notice that there is more leg room in the front. Funny thing is that it was the color I was looking for Magnetic Grey, but it lacked a few options that I felt I needed for the family. Right now the search is on and a decision soon. Thanks for the welcome!

Just an update. I test drove a '13 during the week MGM Double Long bed and I really liked it. I wasn't crazy about the options that was on it so I didn't pull the trigger. I will be placing an order for one soon though. I just can't resist having a new pick up ! I'm already making a list of mods that I want done. I'll post more info soon.
