Real quick question

Sorry i feel like a dumbass asking this question but real quick what does it mean when it says NO COLUMN SHIFT for headers. shopping around for headers on my 2.7L and some say that. does that mean its for Manual tran and not for AUTO tran? sorry if its a noob question

Have you asked the place where you saw those headers for sale? I'm guessing it means not for an auto tranny, but I don't see how headers would differ from a manual tranny.

 

well i was looking at LCE headers and a dude told me to just bend the oil dipstick thingy so it would fit but im not sure since all these places are all online.

just ask someone that has a header for a 2.7, doug thorley for the part #, ur truck isnt shifting from the cloumn either tranny, i dont think!

 

i believe that no taco has ever had a column shift. no ones said what a column shift is yet so i will.
the column shift is when the shifter (now all columns are auto...so PRND321) is on the steering column. the auto pickups had it, but auto tacos dont.

so i believe that you dont have to worry if it says no column shift, because auto or manual, you dont have one.

Certain base model automatic Tacomas in the first two model eras (1995.5 - 1997; 1998 - 2000) had the shifter mounted on the steering column and not the floor. The column shifter had a mechanical linkage to the transmission, and this linkage intrudes into the engine bay.

The reason headers may be listed as 'no column shift' is because they wouldn't clear the linkage in the engine bay.

really? i thought only the pickups had column ones...
must be the 2wd 2.4L ones, ive never been in one of those

 

My dad has a '97 mini, 2.4L I4 with the column shifter.
