Truck was parked in front of my pad overnight. I came out in the morning and it was gone! Then to top it off I'm driving down the street after that and my neighbors tailgate was gone too! Just plasti-dipped my badges too! Should've gotten a lock for the tailgate... =(

I got a pop lock and I am glad that I did. Even doing the clamp mod on your tailgate could been some deterrent for some thieves in taking your tailgate.

Odds are, thieves are going to move along to an easier target if you have the clamp mod. Throw one on, and rotate the clamp so the screw head is facing down or away. Even better if you can find a clamp that isn't flathead or phillips.

Sucks, OP, but maybe your post will encourage others to secure theirs.

Thank God a 4 wheeler rolled out of the back of my truck and screwed up my tailgate. Now nobody would ever steal it, but it still closes.

for $100 you can get the powered pop n lock that operates when you lock and unlock your doors. there is no way to tell there is a lock on it until you try and open it.

that was the 1st thing i did to my truck. 1 stolen tailgate is 1 too many for me, it won't happen again.

Thanks guys! Being that I've had the truck for 8 years I thought I was good and these weren't getting stolen as much. My dumba$$ had to learn the hard way! Gonna get a clamp and a lock for the next one!!! And yes, hopefully this will prevent the same thing from happening to someone else!!!

Sorry to hear of your gate theft. The clamp mod is a low cost great idea.
Your story is an important lesson for all.

I will be listing for sale the two extra tailgates I have in a couple weeks, in case one of them is an option for you.

I got my truck back in October and a friend asked to pick up a treadmill from Sears. Before I knew it I had a tweaked gate. Research after the fact, shows the options to beef it up.

So I wanted a practice gate to work on and I went looking for several weeks and the first one I found was my color that looked ok but ended up tweaked more than mine, but shuts fine. Wanted to start with a straight one to insure the supports were the correct deminsions.

Just a week after this, I bought another one in red. Now have a bright red and a maroon red which is my color.

If my spar supports for the inside of the gate work out I'll post a how to up too.
