Are the values that I see in Edmunds and NADA reliable? I will be buying a 2013 and unless the dealer comes with a good trade appraisal I will be selling my currrent Tacoma myself. I have been looking at CL and AUto trader and some of the asking prices are blowing me away. On average they are pushing $2k above what I think is realistic. Closest dealer to me had a 09 sport with 75k on the ODO listed for mid $22s and I know they sold it real quick. Maybe people are paying low 20s for these trucks. One thing I forgot until this morning was my rebate. I got one whereas the new ones today do not have rebates. That plus the fact that I got a good deal and I am sitting good right now. I want to price the truck fairly but not give away any profit. I am thinking about just pricing it about $1500 below the dealers, thoughts?

I traded my 2008 SR5 4X4 Acess Cab in for a 2012 DCSB MGM OR back in Novemeber. I had 47k on the ODO, clean title and pretty good shape. I always had Seat covers and Weathertech floor liners installed. They didn't even test drive it and barely looked on the inside. I gave it a good wash and detail before I went to make the trade/sale. At first they offered me 18.5k trade (I owed 16 so I would have been happy at that but just had to ask for more), I countered with 19.5 and they countered with 19k even.
To be honest, I was more than happy with what they offered me not only because I had positive equity, but because I got more than what edmunds or KBB said I would on trade.
Yours being an 09 and TRD (sport or OR?, didn't check your sig) you should come out good if your truck is in good shape. Hope that helps answer your question.

I have been in the market up until a few days ago and I monitored both KBB and NADA. KBB is used for a lot of west coast figures while NADA is more for East coast. Usually an average or so will be used in most parts. This is coming from my friend who owns a used car lot and was helping me in my search. Remember, a vehicle is worth whatever anyone is willing to pay for it. With things like craigslist, you can expect it to be listed higher than the value so that there is some wiggle room for arguing back and forth.

it is an OR. I have one decent door ding, one little spot on console where rifle barrel rubbed, and that is about it other than miles. Sounds like I should settle for Edmunds average trade at lowest.

I am looking at 09s in Dallas listed for low 20s. I just think it is too much. I would be very happy with 20 considering what I paid.
