I would like to suggest you look into these two items. they will expand your options with your speedlights.

    http://www.amazon.com/LumiQuest-LQ-101-Pocket-Bouncer/dp/B007SEZT1Q/ref=pd_sim_sbs_misc_1

    http://www.amazon.com/LumiQuest-LQ-126-UltraStrap/dp/B00494P6AW/ref=pd_bxgy_p_text_y

the omni bounce on your speedlight takes away 1.5 stops of light, and that is really about it, making your speedlight work harder when it shouldn't, and does nothing to make the light more attractive. small light source(bare speedlight/omni bounce) = harsh light; larger light source(umbrella, piece of paper used as a diffuser) = more attractive and softer light, proven fact.

as far as your composition, why not try to get creative and position your strobes perpendicular to your lens, and at 90 or 180 degrees from each other in relation to the subject?

here are some examples that will hopefully help you think outside of the box :)

back light is also known as rim lighting

dont think you are limited because you have only two strobes. you follow zack arias, and know of his one light approach, at least I think you do. use what you have creatively

i love the fact that its manual focus i know you can make any lens that way.. just with this lens its like your more in tune with the lens and camera not just a point and shoot

Haha she always says, "Stop taking pictures of me!" followed that evening by, "Hey, can I get those pictures you took? I want to put them on Facebook."

The memories are worth it in the long run

I'm trying decide on what lens I want to purchase, I've made a few choices

    1) Nikon's 70-200 2.8 (I know I would definitely get the most use of)
    2) Nikon's 24-70 2.8
    3) Nikon's 14-24 2.8
    4) Nikon's 300 f4 & 28 1.8

I'm leaning heavily on the 70-200
