I have an 07 Access 4x4 TRD Automatic

Changed the front/rear diff oil at 37K, with Redline Full synthetic 75-90W non LSD

A a while after/ maybe a thousand or so miles I noticed in the morning that when I first shifted into 5th gear and was putting, under 2K RPM I would get a considerable shudder, this would continue unless I got on it a little bit like 2-2.5K RPM or downshifted to 4th.

It does not do this in any other gear except 5th.

Now I have gotten to the point where I leave it in 4th gear until I get to the freeway which is 3 miles away. Shift into 5th before getting on the ramp and it is perfectly fine.

    What can this be ?

no one has any idea what this could be? I feel like it might be the diff, but why would it do it only in 5th gear, so it might be the tranny ?

I feel this a little bit too. To me, it feels like it is the lock-up torque convertor on the edge of locking up. I have not changed diff oil. My truck is an '09 long bed 4wd base model.

By the way, my full size GMC truck did the same thing. And I meant to say on the edge of 'unlocking'. I believe it IS locked when I feel this behavior.

You guys are probably feeling the engine running a little rough .
If the engine is " not at operating temp " and the trans shifts into 5th and the converter locks , it doesnt take much to feel small stumbles from a rough running engine .
This is a Very common issue with todays vehicles and sometimes mistaken for a transmission concern .
A diagnostic scanner will tell you why and at what point the problem happens

It is because the engine/transmission isn't at operating temps. You could bring it into the dealer and they will diagnose it for you.
