    Hey guys,

Just purchased my first Tacoma (new) and was looking to get a quick question answered by some more experienced users here.

Regarding the break in period, I've seen in the manual and several threads here that constant RPM during the first 1k miles should be avoided. When I purchased my tacoma it came to me via 2 inter-dealership trades between Colorado and Wyoming (~about 95 miles on the interstate each way). Would there be anything to worry about here in terms of this lengthly interstate driving for the first ~200 miles?

I'm sure its probably nothing, just wanted to hear some different opinions.

I had the same situation when I got my new Tacoma and I got over 3900 miles on her now I wouldn't worry about it just take it easy till you get to 1000 miles change the oil and drive it doesn't say to change the oil at 1000 miles but that's what we do to rebuilt engines so I just went ahead and did it. good luck with the new rig.

I don't think that's anything to be concerned about- even if they set the cruise control, I don't think the rpm's would stay constant with hills, down/up shifting, etc... Just drive and enjoy your truck! I think you would actually have to put some effort into maintaining a steady rpm!
