Very nice truck bud....I wouldn't dream of putting my paddle in the bed of the truck riding on dirt roads. Break that puppy down and put it inside the cab! Paddles are not cheap!

A member this last week had a post of this truck @ a dealership where he lived I believe and he noticed, (or another member)on the invoice that on the same truck you have they were charging double for suspension. Hope you got a good deal on the truck. I would love to trade in the truck for a 2013 but I don't need a truck payment @ the moment. Enjoy:)

^+100 on the documentary "Love the Beast"...worth every minute of your time!

Great write-up, too! This is also my first truck/pickup ever - having come from driving a BMW coupe, I was pretty hesitant to trade my beloved...but so far (only 1000 miles so far), I'm loving this truck

Thanks again for the write up - and for sharing the links to the mods you've done...as if I didn't spend enough money already on this truck...lol

Hey OP, yes how do you like the JBL Speakers? Does it directly replace the old speakers on the front? Did you put an external amplifier or just the autoradio's amplifier is enough? Because 300W seems to be high in Watts and I plan to change mine but don't know what power I have to looking for with just the autoradio's amplifier.

I really... really like what you have done to this truck. I think the baja decals should stay though

I'm no audio nut, but they have great reviews on Amazon (why I picked them). They don't blow me away, but I think they're solid. I did some research on the amplifier and from what I learned you don't gain anything appreciably by adding an extra amp for these.

Back from a 10 day mountain biking trip to St George, Moab, and Fruita. My brother and I slept in the bed of the truck under starry skies every night. All we used were good camping sleeping pads and sleeping bags.

    New dislike
Why are headlights and climate control not automatic? Can't remember the last time I drove a car without the ability to set the temperature or always leave the lights in (A). At least the lights turn off when you turn the car off.

    New like
Offroading capabilities. Damn! As I mentioned in my OP, I have never done offroading nor am I doing anything anywhere near what some of you other guys are doing (yet). I ended up on some trails with what seemed like unsurpassable terrain, but slow and steady the truck climbed confidently over everything. My brother and I were both blown away.

    New mods
Got some Avid bars all around and a pair of PIAA PIAA upfront.

    Camping
I loved how we could find remote(ish) dirt roads with nobody on them and these beautiful "campsites" with no cars, people, or civilization in sight. Only us, beers, hot dogs, a campfire, and good stories.

    Slickrock
Mountain biking this area is killer. It's different from anything else I've ridden. We got the truck out on there too. We didn't hit any of the really gnarly stuff I've seen others here do, but it felt like we were going to tip over or slide down the rock and roll. Unbelievable rock'n'roll fun. The couple of pictures I have don't do justice to the feeling of what it was like trying this the first time.

The truck handled this second major road trip very well. I love it. Haven't even washed it since that red Moab mud looks right at home on it.

Personally I like the baja, I have a tx pro in black, and my local dealer has a white baja for 34,000 thinking about trading in, but my son really wants the black tx for when he starts driving, I think he won this one, great truck by the way.

To the OP - having driven a bimmer for quite some time now, I understand the gripe about auto climate and auto headlights...lol

But YOUR headlights can be left on all the time...just keep them in the "ON" position. The only difference is that they'll always be on versus having sensors turn them on when it's dark enough...

eh.. still stupid, why can't a small truck have some luxury? Auto climate, lights, (I'm not a fan of auto wipers)

I don't disagree...but I'm sure - some how - adding said items would jack the MSRP up by thousands...lol
