The loud clunk on mt 2012 tacoma turned out to be the drivers side lower control arm assembly. The play in the steering ended up being the steering rack. It feels like the play in the steering rack is coming back again. Been an ongoing issue for 10k miles now. Started about 1300 miles after I bought it with 0 miles. I get to take it to the shop again tomorrow after having it inspected this morning. My truck still has yet to see a pothole or speed bump. I only wonder what would happen if I took it off road.
