second gen reverse cam relocation??

i have a 2013 tacoma that i just baught it has the reverse camera in the tailgate handle now i want to put a locking tailgate handle on it but i know i will need to remove my reverse camera (which id like to keep) now i noticed in my owners manual that some have the reverse camera installed on the chassis under the back end... my question is can i use the existing camera for this or will i need a new one.... also is there a way to split my camera feed to display on my aftermarket headunit as well as my mirror?? thaknks

 

Isn't there a tailgate lock compatible with the camera?

 

i dont know but i cant find one a truck with both the lock and tailgate reverse light

they make an after market but i have access to a stock tacoma tailgate lock and handle for a 2012 that should fit for only 10$ as opposed to paying 80 for a new

IMO 60 bucks is worth the hassle of not having to relocate the entire camera to a new location that might not work as well.

 

I agree with the others OP, just spend a bit more to get a compatible handle, or just get the electric pop and lock to use with your remote.

I used to have an aftermarket down by the hitch and i didn't like it at all because it was very hard to judge how far you were from something. I just recently bought the newer style handle and oem camera. I like it much better because of the angle you can get a better idea of distance. plus in the handle it's more protected. my .02
