    hello everyone,

today i installed the 18'' Magnaflow muffler in replacement of the stock muffler on my 09 trd sport v6 Taco.

i gotta say, i thought it would be a bit louder. after reading forums and doing some research i thought the 18" was going to sound a little meatier then it did. it also in my opinion doesnt sound so much like a truck, there is very minimal difference while idoling and not very much difference when driving.. i wanted the sound deeper but a little throatier as well. does this muffler just need to break in?

i like the sound of the old skool trucks and muscle cars and i would like to get something similar with a little more girth to it. i just want this taco to sound mean.

    any suggestions?

    thanks!

Unfortunately we have a V6 and you'll never get that "muscle car" sound. This is why alot of guys here either keep it stock or go balls deep with headers and after market Y pipes. My experience has been for the better sounding on our truck is Aero turbine, Magnaflow magnapack or urd's catback set up sounds the best!

Your never gonna get "that" sound with a v6. Give the muffler some time though it'll break in a deepen up, mine did at a few hundred miles.

I have that same muffler. I was concerned with how quiet it sounded at first, but don't worry, it will break in, and get a little louder. Unfortunatly it will never sound much like a typical V8. I have my exhaust end right after the hump over the axel, and at wide open throttle it sounds awesome.

I just installed the same muffler but the whole catback. I think the 3in out pipe and the and new tip make a huge difference because there's no way I can say my truck did not get louder. However, no it does not sound like a muscle car, but yes I can hear it idle at a stop light now.

    thanks for the feedback!
i gotta give it some time i guess but the shop who installed it said give it a week if you dont like it come back and ill replace it with something else.. ive been looking into switching it to the aero turbine 2525 muffler or the spin tech, it sounds beefy but im not so sure the downside to them on performance wise. anyone with those mufflers please chime in im all ears!
