Any one know how to hard wire a power wire for a Garmin Nuvi??

I want to run the wire to the left side of the window...and all they sent with cigarette lighter adapter. I was just going to run the wire behind the dash and splice it to a wire that goes hot when I turn on the truck.

But this one goes to a firewire type plug-so I don't think I can just snip the wire and splice it in....

Electronics gurus-Help a brother out??
