Aircraft anti lock systems have been around a least 50 years it is a complete different system design but the ideal is the same.

Yes and ABS sucks compared to Hyundai Santa Fe. It's so unpredictable. This is the worst ABS system I ever used.

My previous car was a Jeep Patriot and it worked well. Even ABS system in Sierra 1500 was better and predictable.

I don't feel safe driving Tacoma with ABS, so each winter, I remove the ABS fuse.

We live in mountain area and there's one stop sign at the end of the hill. I occasionally get past it when ABS is on. So, I removed fuse and re-tried, it stops right here. I put fuse to try again, and ABS kicks in and brakes are gone, even if I push hard on the pedal. I tried elsewhere with same results. So, I came to a conclusion that ABS on my Tacoma sucks, because they are way too sensitive, and especially, unpredictable.

Even if I slow down, way slower than I was in my gf car, a Santa Fe, ABS just kicks in. It happens especially when road is uneven with some patch of ice, snow, hard packed snow and asphalt, kind of all dressed. Which is always the case of where I live during winter. I can slow down to 1 mph, 2 miles before stop sign, but this is ridiculous. It's like crawling.

Heck, if you hit a small pothole with ONE wheel while braking, even if three others are on dry asphalt, ABS kicks in... I never seen that on all other cars I drove with ABS system.

That is where the Automotive ABS Systems originated. Where did you think they got the idea? The basic functional idea is still the same on both systems.

Last week my abs worked exactly how I understand it is supposed to work. Driving home after a light snow, the roads were starting to get icy on inclines. I was a little careless and didn't notice the traffic ahead was bunching up and by the time I realized it was so slick I hit the brakes reasonably hard, ABS started working but I saw I wasn't going to stop in time and turned onto the shoulder and stopped about a 1/2 car length past the other guys rear.

Without ABS I would not have been able to make that sudden swerve onto the shoulder.

Yes I know full well where it came from just stating it has been around for a long time. Even worked on a few during my 3 year vacation in south east Asia.
