I squeezed the sides then popped off the stupid plastic cylinder on the right side. It looks like a small shock absorber. After that there are 3 spots on the bottom where its hinged. Just tug it off, thats what I did. Getting it back on is the fun part :p

    Basic question here --

I bought an aftermarket replacement filter off *bay for my 2007 taco doublecab - the cabin filter is mostly filter paper with two flimsy plastic strips as side supports. I've done this a few times and it's been a while since I had a factory one which had markings indicating direction of installation.

When the filter slides into the slot behind the glovebox, should the plastic strips be running front to back (parallel to direction of travel) or should the be running left to right (parallel to the firewall)

    Thanks,
    Mark

There was a pic of the filter pulled part of the way out in Post#16 of this thread.....can you answer your question from how the filter looks in that pic?

That filter even shows the arrow for direction....

Thanks for pointing that out. I had missed it on my first pass through.

Turns out I've got my filter in wrong as of right now -- I'll be fixing that tonight.

That's how my 08 looked. Amazing how they get to looking. I don't even have any trees around close either but it looked like yours.
