Quick Question regard seat backs

I'm looking into upgrading my audio system. I just order a pioneer avhx2500 to replace my stock non JBL stereo. I was thinking about getting a sub box one that is divided into 2 subs or 1 sub and another for just amps. I'm not worried about the sub as of yet want to do components first. But with the box I can mount the amp for the components. Now question being. Once I do get a sub installed will I have to remove the seatback plastic? How does it sound when its left in place?

I have alot of army gear that I throw in the back of my truck, so i was thinking if I do have to remove seatback to only do it to the single rear side(Possibly go with only 1 sub). And keep the plastic on the double seat side to avoid messing up my seats and still being able to fold it down and throw my gear on.

Also do you guys recommend running a port in these trucks or just a fully enclosed?

 

Most boxes you can keep the plastics on and it doesn't affect sound too much.

I had suggested to another member to buy the dual 10 sub box and cut one side up and make it into storage. Find Moose1988 build thread and he has pic's of it. Worked out really nice, easy to do.

As for the port vs. sealed, its all what you want out of it. Just know there isn't a lot of room to work back there.

 

I was able to fit two ten's and a decent amp into the rear. Had to take the plastic cubbies out and remove the passenger side seat to work back there. Very happy with the entire install. Just be careful when removing the metal hinges that are on the back on the truck. Use a dremel to remove. I always liked the sounds of a ported box so I went ported with two Rockford Fosgate P3SD410s and kept my Kicker DX1000.1 amp.

 

Single ported is like double sealed for volume. Run either. You will have to remove the seat plastic. You wont have airspace for folding mechanism of seat AND keep the seat back AND avoid speaker contact on excursion without a shallow mount sub. You wont have airspace for ported 10" on just the small side of the rear seat. Once the stereo is in you will find that all the work to fit sub + amp + allow seat to fold is wasted because you wont store things with seats down for fear of damaging your amp and box. At least that is how it went for me.
