Does this all sound like they'll work? I'm wanting to have this player, use this phone, and use this app.....does anyone do this, and does it display and able to be controlled on the screen?

If you meant the 940bt by Pioneer, it most likely works. It will probably give you song title, artist, album name, and a clock/timer for each song. You should also be able to play, pause, as well as go forwards and backwards using the on-screen buttons on the deck. You would just select iPod on the deck and play music from Spotify. Although it might automatically start playing music from the Music app on your phone. However, once you start playing a song on Spotify, the Music app music will stop and the Spotify music will start.

If you're dead set on getting this deck, you might consider cancelling Spotify and getting Rdio instead. This deck is 100% compatible with Rdio. Here's a video that shows it in action.

I use MOG on a Sony and it gives me song, artist, and album name. No album art though. I can use the deck's on-screen buttons to play, pause, skip forward, and skip backwards whether I'm connected via the iPhone cable or Bluetooth. I previously used MOG and Rhapsody on a Kenwood and it gave me the same info. I tried Rdio and Spotify for a short time on the Kenwood and it gave me all that same info. So I would imagine Spotify would work on the deck you're looking at. Hope this helps somewhat!
