Well it was a B, and not the correct use of the tool but it didn't mark anything up, ended up splitting the bearing in two with my cats paw "nail puller". Next time I'll buy the ecgs bushing and their puller tool! If your going to try pulling it with a slide hammer, just pay the asking price from ecgs. Ugh:(

I have learned that it is better to pay a little more for the proper tool because it's not worth the aggravation when things go wrong.

So I am also under that same feeling, and now my financial advisor "wife" will never question me when I say I need this part + specific tool ;)

    Point me! :D

Thing is, I spent 6 hours total,+ $70 for the slide hammer that broke after I spent 2 hours using the pullers I had here, went and bought the slide hammer that was supposed to be awesome, NOT! The bearing was only $20 though so I guess I'm still ahead in the finance division, unless I gotta do it again! Which I should've done my research on here and everybody saying that the way to go is the bushing! Live and learn!

I see. yea the bushing is cool in all, you can tell just by sliding it on the shaft that its a tighter fit, but something tells me that Toyota designed the bearing loose for a reason. ive got maybe 2000k miles on my bushing so far, but I've never heard of a bushing outlasting a roller bearing. . . . we'll see.

so does your new bearing seem any better than the one you pulled out? still have vibes or no?

Well haven't been able to road test it yet, waiting for the dealership near me to get the passenger side oil seal in stock, but the fit of the stub shaft is way tighter than what I had before. I would guess I had ten thousandths slop, now I have 1-2 thousandths slop maybe!

It would be interesting to see if there is a lot of play on the drivers side axle on a brand new truck. I know other IFS trucks have play in the axles like ours do.

Probably do, although I think my problem came from the previous owner setting the donahoe coilovers at there max and running them there for most of the trucks life! Puts a lot of strain on the cv's and stub shaft and that bearing!

right on, my truck was stock for its life until I put the little lift on at 95k miles and it was obvious right away that the bearing was no good. stay on here for a few years and we will see which lasts longer, the bearing, or bushing. im really curious/ concerned

Well my Tacoma love isn't going anywhere, so we shall see, took it for a test drive the other day, it might just be my ears but it sounds quieter than the day I bought it, less road noise and no grinding/ obnoxious rotational noise . Wheel bearings are going back to napa ;) how many miles would you say you have on your bushing? And what kinda lift u put on? I have Donahoe racing ' icon' UCA uniball, with 2.5 coil overs!

I might have 2k miles on the bushing so far so too early to tell.

no coilovers here lol, just ome884s on 5100s with the wheelers +3 leaf aal and 5100s . high enough for now I guess, still factory uca and cv angles are pretty good. some uniball uca would be nice and are on my list, but I don't think the 5100s would enjoy the added downtravel. its a work in progress I guess
