How do our airbags work? Does the front have to crumple that far for them to deploy or is it more of a g-force sensor? I'm putting an after market bumper (homemade from steel... Jacked someone's design on here) but I am a little concerned if it is too strong it could prevent airbag deployment. Thanks!

I would have omitted the 'jacked idea' part, that could lead to a lawsuit. As far as the airbag part, the sensors work off inertia.

Dont worry about lawsuits. You cant copy anything you want as long as you dont offer it for sale.

Our airbags are designed for the crumple sone of a vehicle. By mounting an aftermarket bumper you may affect the airbag deployment. Our bag sensors are mounted on the frame and not the bumper however aftermarket bumpers do alter the crumple zone by redirecting the force of the crash directly to the frame of the truck. This can cause the airbags not to deploy as quickly. The other thing is while a nice big bumper can save your grille and hood in a 10 mph crash, it can cause damage to your frame that would not have otherwise happened with a functioning crumple zone in a 20 mph crash. You have to consider all of these and choose what you feel is best for your situation.

Lawsuit or not it could have been left out.

    Force is correct.

And I only opened this thread because I thought it pertained to Star Wars being the 4th and all.

I took it as him being humble. Saying he didn't put the work into designing it himself.

Glad he asked too. I was prepared to buy four point harnesses to make up for the airbags I thought I was going to have to disconnect with my new bumper.

    *Edit*
May still eventually disconnect and harness, but I'll feel better for now.
