I have a 2007 Tacoma 4 door with less than 60,000 miles. A few days ago it started making a clanking sounds under the bed. I took it to a local shop and they said it was the springs. I had them replaced and now I have a very distinct vibration between 25 and 30mph.

The shop doesn't know whats wrong. I talked to the dealer and they think its a rear U joint.

Does this sound reasonable and does any one know if it would be under warranty?

U joints are fairly easy to diagnose, either there's play or there's not. A common sympton of bad u-joints is a slight clunk when shifting from reverse to drive or drive to reverse. That clunk is the u-joints 'taking up the slack' in the drive line

I just talked to the dealer and he said the springs that were replaced should have fixed the vibration not casue it. He said to ask if they used 2 leaf or 3 leaf and what was on before the replacement.
    What do you think?

To be honest, without seeing your truck, it's hard to say. Some people, myself included, have spent a lot of time and money chasing driveline vibrations in their Tacoma. You have a double cab so I'm assuming even being a prerunner that you have a carrier bearing, or center support bearing? That could be causing some of your vibrations and there is also a TSB out for weak transmission mounts that can cause driveline vibrations also. I would find a reputable drive line shop to take a look at it and have them give their assessment. Diagnosing over the internet, I can give you a ton of ideas but it's tough to say without seeing it.

Check the ubolts that hold down the springs. Use a torque wrench. The Toyota specs call for it to be at 36 pounds but there are threads here saying they should be at 90. I just tightened mine up and the vibe seems to have gone away. I haven't had a chance to do a full throttle start yet though (been raining).
