    Hello.

We are getting ready to purchase a 2013 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Four Wheel Drive pickup. We are going to get it outfitted with the TRD package. I have thought about getting the Baja Package, but I have decided not to spend the money on that. I have done a bit of reading here and although I like the looks of the components (I don't care about graphics) it appears that there are a lot of opinions here that you can spend the money in the aftermarket and get more bang for less money. This vehicle will be a daily driver for my wife. She drives about 10 miles each way to and from work over paved roads. The reason for the Toyota Tacoma is I had one of the first 1995 1/2 Toyota Tacomas and I loved it. I have a company vehicle for the past 14 years, but we want a pickup that we can use for flyfishing, camping, etc. We hope to leave the suspension and tires alone until the pickup hits about 50,000 miles which will be about 4 to 5 years of use. However I do not like the stock bumpers. We want a very heavy duty set of bumpers and rock rails. We do not need a winch to get where we fish or camp. People don't know how to park in parking lots anymore and I don't want my wife's new pickup scratched up, etc. from incompetent people in parking lots or when I get offroad to our fishing and camping destinations. I also am concerned about weight. If I put on a heavy duty set of bumpers and rock rails will that make the stock TRD suspension sag? I am going to eventually put a 2" to 3" suspension lift on with slightly larger tires (maybe 33") and wheels so I want a very rugged set of bumpers and rock rails. What bumpers and rock rails do you Toyota enthusiasts suggest? What about skid plates? When I install the lift kit and tires and wheels will I need to regear?

    Your suggestions are appreciated.

    We live in Colorado.

I don't like spending money twice so I want to make the correct purchases to begin with.

If I was not thorough here please ask me questions and I will fill in the blanks.

Thanks and have a great day!

    Welcome from Colorado!

Which TRD package are you looking at? If you're going to lift anyway I wouldn't worry about weight on the stock suspension and just invest in better shocks as part of the lift.
