Clear Bra in Eastern PA!

Guys,
I just have to post a quick plug for Bill, owner of ACAP Films and Window Tinting in Manheim, PA. When I saw his website, I saw he did a LOT of auto graphics for dealerships and collectors. I could tell he was a all about his work, which is why I decided to drive all the way from Allentown to have him do my work...rather than someone closer. I called him on Thursday, and got scheduled for this past Saturday. My appointment was at 1:00 in the afternoon. He worked straight until 23:45! I know because I sat there in his office watching him. The guy's a machine.

Bill applied the new 3M Clear Bra film (lifetime warranty) to my entire hood/scoop, scoop insert, A pillars, upper/lower fenders, lights, grill, and bumper. He also tinted my front two windows. In the process, he noticed some chips in my paint, so he touched them up, prior to putting down the laminate.

Bill's a perfectionist, which is why it took longer than other shops might. He continuously inspected his work and re-adjusted stuff until it was absolutely perfect. I sat watching the La Mans race while the poor guy slaved over my truck. He's a great guy to sit and watch, eat some pizza with, and shoot the shit with while he works.

P.S. Because Bill's a perfectionist, I suggest dropping off your vehicle, or scheduling for earlier in the day. In Bill's defense, I did add to my original order once I got there.

 

Let's see some pictures. I've heard of this clear bra stuff, but I've never really looked into it. It sounds like you got it done right.

 

Will do. The cable to get the photos off my camera is at work, so I'll post this week. I can tell you that the film actually made my front end look better. It's impossible to see from the front, or front quartering positions. You only see the line when within 1-2 feet of it and from the side or rear quartering positions. It's almost imperceivable.

BTW, I noticed small marks in the front edge where the infamous clips were installed with the OEM bug shield...and I only had that thing on for a week! We also noticed some rough edges where the Weather Tech bug deflector rubbed the leading edge of the hood...and that was only on for a week! I do a lot of driving so, that's about 600 miles for both shields.

I'm a huge advocate for removing them now. Plus, I got my "lines" back that were gooned up by having the shields on.

The clear bra looks great! Definitely a smart investment.

How much did it cost?

 

Well, each part or package has a specific price. I paid $1,200 out the door, but that also included two window tinting, and some customized work for the hood. The original pattern only covered half of the hood and scoop.

Breakdown was:

Pock-mark paint touch up
Front bumper- extended
Lower fender (front 25%)
Upper fender (front 25%)
Grille
Entire hood with 360 degree edge overlap
A-pillars
Headlights/fog lights
40% Window Tint (front driver/passenger)

 

That stuff looks awesome and right in my backyard.

However, I'd be afraid of what it would look like over-time.

What if I need or want to remove it? How hard is it to remove? Does it ruin the paint in the process of removing it? Does it get yellow over time?
How does it react to waxes & detailing soaps,etc over time?

No worries my friend. That's why we're all here and that's I posted.

It's supposed to be guaranteed for the life of the vehicle not to yellow, fade, peel, or get dirt under the seams. Doesn't require UV spray either. the only thing that it requires is that you DO remove sap, bird crap, and tar ASAP, in order to prevent discoloration. I was instructed to use a little spray was on it during every wash and that's really it. Wax the covered and uncovered sections separately to avoid wax lines at the seams. It can be removed, but I think you need a professional to do it. At least I'd have a pro do it.

BTW, the old Clear Bra was only warrantied for 5 years, the new stuff is Venturesheild and that's what I have. It's for Life. I found more info at http://clearbrapro.com/faq.html
