Tried to replace my fuel filter not to long ago on my first toyo a 2nd gen 09 taco 2.7 80k miles and i was told it has a non serviceable in tank screen/filter. All fine exept i drive on a extra dirty, dusty job site daily, thus compared to a road driven truck I expect that my fuel system/ filter would require more frequent maintanence. So after failing to start and draining my battery I discovered by pulling the fuel line apart at the fuel rail that my fuel looked like trashed black coffe beans so we pumped out about a gallon of that trash till it looked like clean gas again , changed the spark plugs (they were fouled/burned up bad ) and had to drive it a few miles and just like that been running like a champ since. One other detail we installed a inline fuel filter pre fuel rail for more frequent replacement etc. To prevent crap fom entering the motor. I checked my air filter it looked normal and checked the intake assembly for anything out of the ordinary. I understand theres a o ring seal over the fuel tank and checked for any vacum leak to check how to prevent more trash from penetating the fuel system . What is your view and Are there any past related threads ????

Have a look under your intake manifold.

I missed a digit. I thought I read yours as a 99, not an 09. I believe you would be correct then, that there is no factory external filter.
