Ok fellas....I've been on this site for the past year...bought my first Tacoma about 6 months ago. I say this because I'm sure in about ten years I'll want to buy another one. So far this truck is great. Its a DCLB TRD Sport. Here's my questions:

    1. I've recently stumbled into the 5100 rear shocks that have lift applied to them (3/4" etc). Do they provide the lift already or are the supposed to be used with AAL or another type of lift component?

    2. I hear all this talk about older Tacomas having the rear TSB shocks. I realize that this was a change that provided lift along with the change, but what do the new Tacomas have on them compared to the TSB that is refered to in many posts. (I have a 2013)

    3. Which rear 5100's should I get when I get them? I am a bit confused on some of the differences that are listed on various websites to make the purchase.

    4. I've also seen mixed answers (and probably for a reason) about the .85/1.75 settings on the front Billies....I've seen several trucks put at 1.75 and no lift in the rear and it looks good and level. Was this because of a certain reason like using a certain 5100 on the back?

    5. Can I only get the Billies for all 4 corners or is there any extra equipment that I MUST purchase. There are so many lift kits out there, it makes my head hurt!

I'm sorry to beat a dead horse here guys, but I searched high and low for a lot of this stuff...

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP AND THANKS FOR HAVING A GREAT SITE!!!!!!

5100s all around -- 1.75 fronts, 1.5 aal, spidertraxs, grillcraft mx, derped scoop & badges, AVID step bars....need.more.money.
How much lift are you hoping to achieve? Are you looking to raise the front in order to be level, or wanting an all around lift? Also, something to keep in mind is tire size. Going larger? That may impact your choice of lift. I had all these questions as well. I wanted a level truck with a little larger than stock tire, as well as avoid having to do any cutting, cmc, etc., so I went with 5100s all around--fronts at 1.75". I also added a 1" block in the rear, as I was a little nose high without the block. It now sits level. I am going to soon install a 1.5" aal, however, because the block rides terrible and I'd like a little rake back in the truck. My truck is a daily driver, but I do tow quite a bit. What do you plan to do with yours? That will make an impact as well

I was going to run a slightly larger tire 265/70/17. I also did not want to cut at all and wanted a bit more clearance for all around driving and outdoor fun. Everything I was reading said not to go with the rear blocks for the exact reason you stated, just didn't know if getting the rear ALL was worth it etc. I wont be doing much towing at all....for now....until I get my next new toy, whatever that may be.

I run that same size tire, Duratracs. I am by no means an expert here, but I love the stance of my truck, and its intended purpose is well served as is. I haul an ATC and ATV with no problem. The aal is more for getting back to the stock rake, for looks sake. Like I said, I was a little nose high with nothing in the back...a look that I'm not a fan of at all.

Thanks for the PM onurnez I think that helped a lot. I have a question for you all though. A guy i know wants to uprade his rig. Is willing to sell his 5100s to me (under 10k miles and light use with often cleaning, he works at a body shop) for $600 - all four corners installed with alignment. This a pretty good deal?

It isn't considering you can get all 4 Billies brand new for roughly $325. Installation, try it yourself, free. Or at least the cost of a case with some willing friends!

Ok sounds good. I would just need to rent / borrow a lift/compressor correct? I've seen the posts on the DIY and doesn't look awful to do. Thanks for the input!

This is just my opinion, but I always like to buy new. Yes, I have broken my rule before, but when I buy new, I know I am the one who broke it. There is never any wonder about the "other guy"
