Suggestions for Army Boots in Afhghanistan....

I'm wearing Converse 8" side zipper composite toe over here in right now. The top part around the ankle seemed a little thick at first, but now they're awesome. Lightweight, fits like a gym shoe, yet the bottom is durable enough to still be comfortable walking on gravel and rocks. Get desert tan, don't bother with the Coyote brown. The dust and dirt over here makes everything look like desert tan anyway.

for big guys Danner is the most solid boot. made to last or rocky sv2.

 

I will throw another vote in for Danners but get what fits you well

 

I alternate between Nike SFBs and the Rocky C4T.

 

Like has been said earlier... Nike's are awesome but will last MAYBe half the deployment even if you rarely go out. Day-to-day use will tear them up, but they are heavenly. The Merrill's are great but you'll look like a wannabe, but whatever I did for a few months once.

New Balance's are the way to go IMHO. They are great, reasonable, and last long enough for a sneaker boot.

I think the danger tfx's are so-so. The summers are comfortable but make me sweat and then hold the smell.

Sneaker boots are worth it if you can afford it

 

i forgot to mention, try the hitec magnum elites. never got the chance to use the elite spider 8.0 cause i got out back in 2010 but i always loved hitec cause the way they fit. might be personal preference but they always fit my feet to the tee and i doubt the way hitec makes their boots changed much since then.

 

Rocky Sv2's. The soles will wear down a little faster than other boots, but much more rugged and comfortable than most others. If you want a light weight boot check out the Rocky C4's a lot of people in my squadron wear them in hot weather. I have a lot of buddies who like the nikes as well.
