    I've searched.

The FSM doesn't even have anything on the clutch system in it.

I'm trying to remove the clutch master cylinder and cannot for the life of me get that bracket (that connects to the clutch pedal) off the shaft so I can pull the fucking thing out through the firewall. Vice grips on the shaft and a wrench on the bracket... all I'm doing is turning the shaft.

Is there any other way of getting the master cylinder out?

    you pulled off the clip?
the eye part of the shaft comes off with it.

I pulled the cotter pin and the other pin that run through the pedal and the two "tines" of that bracket. The bracket is fully detached from the pedal.

I'm not exactly sure what the "eye part of a shaft" is.

But just looking at the new master cylinder that bracket spins off the shaft entirely. Just figured that's what I need to do with the old one.

And it's that bracket that won't fit through the firewall. So I'm assuming I need to take that off to remove the master cylinder entirely.

Here's a picture if you want to help point me to whatever you're thinking

The nut closest to this ^ silver bracket is what I'm getting a 14mm wrench on while trying to hold the shaft with vice grips.

In every youtube video I've watch so far that silver bracket comes out through the firewall. Granted none of the videos are referencing a 1st gen Tacoma, but does that silver bracket somehow fit through the firewall?

I couldn't for the life of me finagle it through the hole in the firewall.

Engine freshly rebuilt due to blown head gasket, built my own CAI, EGR delete from LCEngineering, Billstein 5125's in the back with GM leafs, I can't stand paying for something that I can make in my garage so I built my own spacers for the front and tweaked them for 3" of lift.
I pulled the cotter pin and retaining pin from the pedal and mine slid right out, I didn't have to disassemble anything. Its a tight fit pulling through the firewall but it fit on mine. I pulled it out of a 98 and out it back in a 95 and it fit through both firewalls.

Both nuts, the clevis pin and hydraulic line were removed ?

    Should come out...
    might require a little prying

was it leaking on the floor board side at all ?
could be just gunk holding that in place.

If the rubber boot were contaminated...
that could swell some and require more force or leverage.

    try again ;)

    Correct.

Does that clevis just pull through the firewall? Or do I have to remove it from the shaft/rod?

    Don't think so.

I might just go over with a BFH or pry bar or something. I'm about to douse it in gasoline and set the fucking thing on fire to see if that helps.

It's out. The whole clevis comes out through the firewall, with a little extra fist/finesse

Clevis, yes you're right, I was remembering the look of it wrongly. Was thinking it was a simple 'eye' on the end. yep mine came right out. No spinning or disassembly needed. I was thinking you meant the bracket on the firewall.
