So I got in my truck last fall and noticed a crack in the bottom of the windshield on the passenger's side.

After a TON of reading here, I recall seeing something about "windshield" and "tsb"...

Am I recalling correctly? Is there a known issue causing windshields to crack in these trucks?

2011 Reg Cab (with cupholders. ;) )- no "chip" to indicate the screen was struck anywhere along the crack...

I highly doubt it. I had a small chip on the very edge of passenger side windshield. When I reported that my windshield was leaking water down through the driverside 'oh shit handle' they said "the chip may be the problem" contact your insurance.

    WTF

Run the tip of a pen from the start of the crack to the end of it and if the pen stops at any point that will be the impact point. If there's an impact point it won't be covered by Toyota

    BWAHAHAHA! OK, that's just funny!

Naturally, the crack on the windshield would allow water to migrate in, then up, to come back into the cabin at that point around the grab handle - totally logical.

...now if you'll excuse me, the money tree in my back yard is about to sprout gold doubloons and I need to ride my unicorn home to catch them as they fall off...

...and I see my wish for a windshield cracking TSB makes about that much sense now, too... ;) Thanks gang!

OP - Depending on your state some states have laws that if your front windshield is broken your insurance company is required to replace at no cost to you or your premium. I know this is how it is down here in Florida, and is the reason that a cracked front windshield is probable cause for a traffic stop in the Sunshine State!!

Most insurances are setup to cover window replacements for $150 they know it happens and does not require full deductible amount to be paid.

Been through 3, 2 in my 97 and one in the 2011 they crack right around the wipers does not take much of a stone either. But don't feel bad 2 in my VW also, sand in the winter in Maine is more like gravel and it sticks around a long time after the snow melts..
