Just a few little things. It's my DD
Doesn't sound like something I would do. Maybe a programmer. If your talking about a chip off eBay no-way!

Post a link to the chip your talking about please.

If you search the forum you will find other threads telling you that there is nothing that works chip wise for the 4.0. Some people have added chips because the person "thinks" they work and have had issues. Nothing positive comes from them.

Save your money and be less heavy on the skinny pedal. Its a truck after all not a gas sipper.

there are 3 types of 'chips'

    1) total BS chips that do nothing but are cheap and surrounded by marketing hype

    2) same as 1 but they actually do result in higher MPG...they do this
by forcing a lean condition that will end up destroying your valves and
    cats from serious overheating

1 and 2 are BAD, and useless...designed only to steal your money

Gforce does item 2 by telling the vehicle ECU the intake air is colder than
it really is, false readings on intake air temp only does harm never does good

    3) an actual ECU upgrade or reprogram that ONLY goes along with other
    hardware bolted to your motor
, like a turbo or a blower. a real upgrade and
usually is part of a multi-thousand dollar engine rebuild

    ---
FACT: no one chip or ECU reprogram will do diddly for your engine, otherwise
Toyota would already have included it. fact is, bone stock hardware is already
optimized for performance, MPG, and emissions. any real upgrade is a whole
    lot more than a 'chip'
