Bought a new ARB bumper 2 years ago and installed it on my 2010 Tacoma. Over the last 4 months rust has taken over; it is coming through the paint in large patches (there were no dings or scratches in the powder coating). Right now about 20% of the bumper is rust; the sport where the winch control box mounts is especially rusty.

Anyone else experience this? I thought the powder coating was tough and the steel top-notch. Again, the rust is coming through the paint, and there are deep pits in the steel in places.

Looks like I have to pull the bumper off, sandblast, re-powder coat and then Line-X... Could probably almost buy a new bumper for that money.

    Kind of disappointing.

If I were you I would get a hold of ARB and see what they say about it. I doubt they will repair it for you but they might have some good tips on how to remove it and refinish it.

I'd say quickly paint it and sell it why you can. And I mean quickly.

    Solid advice.

If it were me, I would pull it off and have it done right. You'll probably be into $300-ish if you were to go back the PC route.(my bumper was $225 to sandblast and PC white) Far from the cost of a new bumper, besides if you had a place do it that knew what they were doing it should last much longer. I'm not sure how much line-x would be. But I wouldnt see why you would do both.

Looks like a good opportunity to change the color.:)
I say strip and powder coat I'm the color of your choice.
It seems odd that you have this issue but every manufacture has a lemon now and then. LX 450 had ARB for 8 years with no issues.

For the fool that said paint and sell...how would you like it if you bought that panted over bumper when the rust starts popping through?

My ARB is going on ohhhh 4 years or so? Powdercoat is still in great condition and I use the shit out of this thing. I'd contact ARB first, as others have suggested.

If they fall short, have it soda/sand/media blasted and podwercoated, the guys at the PC shop will know what to do exactly.

LineX-ing it would be about $275 - JUST the LineX... ;)

Still a crap ton less expensive than buying a new one...
