I installed a JVC KD-A725 headunit this weekend and I attempted to install the Axxess (ASWC) steering wheel control unit.

I followed the instructions I found on threads here.
    Red to power
    Black + white/red to ground
    Green/orange to Violet/white
    Black/green to yellow/black

I get a solid red light on the ASWC LED, but no steering wheel control.

There is a wire coming from the JVC radio labeled "Steering wheel remote".
I wonder if that is supposed to attach to anything?

I have not contacted Axxess or JVC yet, I figured I try y'all first.

I called Crutchfield and figured my problem out.

I did not connect the 3.5mm DIN connector.
There is no plug on the JVC radio, but there is that one wire labeled, 'steering wheel remote'. I connected that wire to the brown wire on the 3.5mm DIN adapter (female part, came with kit), and then plugged the male 3.5mm DIN from the AWSC into it.

    Viola! Works like a charm.

Perhaps this will help any future JVC radio/AWSC installers.
    Good luck.

I'm thinking about getting that same head unit and steering wheel controls for my 2011 Tacoma. How do you like the radio? Did you also get the faceplate from Crutchfield? If so, how do you like it? Did you have to buy anthing else to complete the swap? I could use whatever wisdom you might have because I'm thinking about doing the install myself and I'm not really that handy with this kind of stuff. Thanks.

You helped me! After I already purchased my JVC HU and with my steering wheel interface kit on the way I suddenly realized that I didn't have a 3.5mm jack on the back. I've been searching the internet for hours, I thought I was out of luck.

    Thank you!
