I did some searching, but wanted to get some replies to my specific situation. I bought my tacoma w/ 93K miles on it 2 months ago. I am getting ready to change the oil over to synthetic, and was wondering what all I should do other than that. Such as transmission fluid, possibly spark plugs? I did the cabin filter and it was filthy so I am sure the previous owner was not very good at upkeep. What are some suggestions? I would like to do as much as possible at the same time that way I can keep a good idea on how long until something else needs to be done. Thanks for the help!

I would have the tranny fluid replaced. I'd have Toyota do that.
I would change the oil, plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and change out the diff oil.

    How does it run?

Seems to run pretty good. Not great gas mileage but I read that this is pretty common.

What are the best plugs to get and fluids to use?

    All of the above.

I do (did) my major service at 60K and 120K, regular maintenance (oil changes & tire rotations) every 5K

If you bring your rig into toyota to do the tranny. It might be a good idea to have them clean the fuel system as well. Then swap out all pulleys and serpentine belt. Start think about wheel bearings and ball joints when it's due for breaks.

just do everything. if its an automatic, its do for tranny fluid at 100k, if its a manual, its probably overdue. plugs are also probably overdue. use Toyota factory plugs, ngk or denso. heres my breakdown, I have a manual trans.

spark plugs, trans oil, both diff oils, and t-case oils every 30k. gear oils are hard for me to find in stores so I usually end up running all over town and getting various bottles. lucas and mobile one. I never mix them but end up with maybe lucas in the diffs and mobile 1 in the gearbox and t-case, however it works out

engine oil, air-filter, and check/clean/replace cabin air filter every 5k

engine coolant flush and replace, and t-stat replacement at 100k. auto tranny fluid too if that applies. if belt is worn, replace. and at that, might as well replace idler and tensioner pulleys. seriously consider water pump while belt is off too
