So well changing out my fuel pump the 8 bolts on top of the tank were completely corroded away to a point were i was able to just lift out my pump. I managed to extract two of the little devils, but the other six are hopelessly stuck.. When putting everything back together I used a gasket maker to put a big beefy gasket around the whole thing, but I've noticed that when i open my gas cap that there is no pressure. my truck runs and starts better than before my original pump went out, but it is just not holding pressure in the tank. So My idea is to use an epoxy/strong adhesive to goop over the top plate to try and get it to seal. What do you guys think? Should I start looking for a new tank, or is possible to save the one I have?

Not all gas tanks are pressurized. Our trucks may not.

Some of this Some of that
Drill out the screws and tap in bigger ones!. If the tank had no pressure in it wouldn't the cel come on, similar to a bad gas cap?

    This.
It's been very rare that I've had the warned-about "pooft" when removing the gas cap. Never on any Toyota I've driven since my '94.
Had a couple of Fords that would do it on a hot day.

ARB bumper, warn 9.5 winch. carbon fiber hood. Leer top with thule racks and MOAB from thule. Electric fans, blue sea fuse block, Sony dvd Head unit, Xm tuner and HD tuner. New carpet and new racing seats. ( other half doesnt like them i think). Nwor springs and adjustable coil overs. Sky jacker rear shocks. Slot and drilled rotors. Engine Titanium ceramic coated headers, no cat, jba cat back. URD Rear Sensor Simulator. Leds all around and inside cab and HID H4 hi/lo beams.
    Piece of advice..

With the top of the tank NOT sealed correctly you can run the risk of a fuel VAPOR EXPLOSION. All it would take is a spark and BOOM.. Vapors are worst than gasoline in liquid form... Fuel tank is very close to the hot exhaust only 2 feet max...

Never drive a car with a tank exposed like this..

Either replace the tank or redo the threads so you can get a proper seal..

X3 At this point your life or others are not worth the risk. Repalce the tank or have the original properly repaired.

Appreciate the replies, I needed some reassurance that this is something worth fixing. I think I might have found a cheap replacement. Dose any one know if the 2.7 and the 3.4 4x4 extended cab tacomas have the same fuel tank?

Yes there is quite a large benefit, one of which being NOT ruining your engine
